Black currants were once banned in the US in the early 1900's as it was thought that they spread a fungus that threatened the timber industry. This super fruit is a native of Europe but is also grown in Asia and New Zealand. Black currants are full of health-promoting anthocyanins (which is also what makes them purple), and vitamin C. In fact, they have 4 times more vitamin C than oranges. For an extra boost of immunity, we combined orange peels which have been shown to lower high blood pressure and cholesterol, to make this tea blend the perfect way to supercharge your day.
Ingredients: Black Tea, dried black currant pieces, orange peel, flavoring, blue cornflowers, and silver sugar crystals.
A DC Universe Inspired Rooibos Blend
Wonder Woman is much more than a cartoon character. She's fighting for truth and justice and the secret self that exists in all women and girls. There's a moral fiber and a goodness about her that all women have. – Lynda Carter on Wonder Woman
We Are All Wonder Women!
The best tools are formed of the armor of Goddesses, and the Lasso of Truth is no exception. We all long to find the truth in ourselves and in others but doing so is never easy. Princess Diana of Themyscira, Daughter of Hippolyta was given the lasso by her mother, once it was blessed by Aphrodite and Athena, so that anyone bound by the lasso must obey Wonder Woman. First, Diana always tries to obtain what she needs without the lasso. Yet, even Wonder Woman struggles to trust her instincts but when she is looking for answers, her golden lasso is at the ready. When the lasso is in action, it shines like the golden sun. Much like that phenomenon, this shimmering tea blend produces a compelling cup, reminding us that truth matters.
Honeybush is a plant that is native to the cape of South Africa, much like the close cousin – Rooibos. It has a naturally mild sweet taste and aroma, like honey. Honeybush is naturally caffeine free, has a low content of tannins. It was also traditionally made into a tea to treat coughs because of its content of pinitol which is an expectorant. Try this tea iced, it is simply delightful.
Ingredients: Honeybush, apple pieces, candied pineapple and papaya pieces, cinnamon sticks, fig pieces, lychee pieces, cactus petals, dwarf everlast blossoms, and edible pearl dust.
A Harry Potter Inspired White Tea Blend
This white tea blend with Elderflower is a favorite of the Weasley household, especially before an important Quidditch game!
Bai Mu Dan is a Chinese tea also known as White Peony. White tea is one of the most delicate varieties of tea, as the processing is kept to a minimum. Because of its delicate nature, it is very important to follow the steeping instructions provided. If the water is too hot, or it is steeped too long, it can release some bitterness that is unpleasant. If you do not have a thermometer or temperature controlled kettle, try to use water that is just under a simmer. Also, refrain from adding any additional milk and sugar in order to enjoy the delicate and subtle flavors of this white tea.
Ingredients: Bai Mu Dan White Tea, elderflowers, elderberries, freeze dried blackberries, blackberry leaves, and honey granules.
Milk Oolong - a flavored Oolong tea
This Oolong tea from Taiwan smells like butter and has an incredible creamy flavor.
Jin Xuan Oolong from Taiwan is famous for its naturally thick and creamy body and mild sweetness. This particular variety of Milk Oolong is inspired by the Jin Xuan tea, but is a flavored Oolong.
Oolong tea is a mildly oxidized tea. Many consider it somewhere between a green tea and a black tea. Generally, oolong teas are less oxidized but different varieties have wildly different oxidation levels ranging from 8% to 80%. A lower oxidized oolong will have less caffeine than a highly oxidized variety. Oolong tea leaves are also curled, rolled, or even twisted into spindles or balls.
Ingredients: flavored Oolong Tea
Top O' the Morning - a traditional Irish Breakfast tea
This Irish Morning Breakfast tea has a robust malty flavor and a lovely amber cup. Add some milk and you will be dancing an Irish jig in no time.
"Breakfast tea" is commonly used to refer to black teas that are very robust and served with a traditional hearty breakfast. Irish morning breakfast teas have a strong Assam content which is what gives it a malty flavor and red color. This tea is usually stronger than an English breakfast tea but not quite as strong as a Scottish breakfast tea. In addition, the Irish drink this tea all day long, not just for breakfast. Try it with a touch of milk.
Ingredients: a blend of Assam and other Indian Black teas
